Photography Guest Speaker - Sarah Clements

Tutor - James Darroch invited an industry guest as part of Animation and Film Production Workshop class yesterday. Sarah Clements specializes in Wedding Photography and has made a name for herself in the industry. Sarah and her partner is based in Rangiora and travels extensively to meet the demand of her services. Travel perks such as paid flight and accommodation as well as the agreed wedding package rate are some of the reasons why she choose to hone her craft and stay in the business. Like many graduates, Sarah had struggled with setting-up her business and surviving the initial setbacks. A self-proclaimed introvert, Sarah encouraged budding photographers to be switched-on when being  on the job. Sarah highlighted the importance of enjoying the moments and understanding the 'recipe' to a typical wedding ceremony. Ensuring that as a Photographer, you are ready to anticipate emotional moments and capture them accordingly. Summer is a particularly busy time for weddings and it is expected to sacrifice many of the weekends to fulfill the client's needs. Sarah encouraged the students to build on their portfolio early and seize opportunities, as confidence and skills developed over time, you'd be able to adjust your fees accordingly.
